She’s a first in our book! Tina Dozier of the Democrat & Chronicle was inducted last night (October 1st) as the first new member of the 2008-2009 year. And she came in with a bang by taking home the trophy for best Table Topics speaker for the evening. Welcome aboard, Tina! (Stay tuned…you’ll learn more about Tina in the November issue of the Patter.)

The evening’s theme was “Wheels,” and we are really on a roll. What a great night for company. We had guests, guests, guests, and more guests. It just happened to be a good night to learn about Postprandial and Toastmasters, with speeches from Dave Pope, Kate Olsen, and Melinda Bessey on different aspects of Toastmasters in general and on membership-building for Postprandial in particular. Guests were heard to say, “I’ll be back,” “I’ll definitely be back,” and “I can’t wait to join.”
There was great enthusiasm all night with Paul Lozito as Toastmaster, Ed Oberhofer as (first-time) Table Topics Master and Travis Winter as (first-time) Chief Evaluator. The meeting went smoothly and we had great fun! The night’s standings were:
Best Speaker: Kate Olsen
Runner Up: Dave Pope
Best Evaluator: Lory Hedges
Runner Up: Gil Stern
Best Table Topics: Tina Dozier
Runner Up: Eric Britt
Ed Oberhofer also gave us another run of his humorous speech. Don’t forget to come to the Area contest on Friday to support Ed, as well as Kelly Roland for Table Topics.
Remember to check the matrix for your next meeting role. Role and Job descriptions are available on the Member Resources page to help you meet the objectives.
